Measure at the point you want your jeans to be on your body, usually a few inches below your belly button. It is not your true waist size, but the measurement of the waistband of your jeans.
This is definitely easier to measure from another pair of jeans. The Front Rise is from where the four seams meet in the crotch of your pants. Measure from the point up to how high you want your jeans to be, including the band. INCLUDING THE BAND. This is crucial to getting the proper measurement, so sorry I yelled at you.
This is also more easily measured from a pair of jeans, adding or subtracting based on how high up you want your jeans to go. Include the band in your measurement.
Measure your hip at the mid-buttock, or if measuring your favorite jeans, measure how wide they are 3" up from the crotch and double it. (Jeans should be smoothed out on a hard, flat surface for accuracy)
Measure your thigh 1" below the crotch point. If measuring pants on a flat surface, double it. If measuring pants you would like looser or tighter, make the adjustment by adding or subtracting the amount in inches. If you are ordering skinny jeans, it matters. If you are measuring your body but don't want skin tight jeans, also add the desired amount. If you are ordering straight jeans, the pattern will automatically be larger and thigh measurement is not as important, unless you have proportionally larger thighs and need the extra room. If this is too confusing, let's talk about your vision for your jeans so we get it just right. Email us at paluzi@yahoo.com
This is the size of the opening of the bottom of your pant. This is not critical unless you want your jeans a very specific way. Usually the opening is dictated by the pattern: skinny, relaxed, straight. But if you want them to fit over boots, or if you want them to peg, then we need to know more about that. Please talk to us about it when we reach out to you. When measuring a pair of jeans, make sure they are on a flat, firm surface, and measure across the very bottom of the jean and then double it.
The knee is not critical unless you are an outlier or you need special consideration because you are in a wheelchair or have a prosthetic or brace. Usually this measurement is one that follows based on type of jean and your other measurements. Please contact us if you have additional concerns. We will be happy to help to be sure you get the jeans you desire.
