JohnySaki
In Tokyo, I was contemplating my family history with Japan. Remembering my Dad, Johny, a decorated Marine on Iwo Jima, Saipan, Marshall Islands and others. He wouldn't buy Japanese products for his life. He wouldn't even rent a Japanese car. Then I was told by my Mom at his funeral, that the one regret he had in his life was the Japanese soldiers he had killed. An incredible conflict he carried his whole life. Thinking about who he was and what he taught me about making quality denim, and the history of men NOT wearing pants, Samurai, Romans, Greeks, Native Americans, it occurred to me that a blending of the two cultures of Japan and America would not only be a proper tribute to the killers and the killed but also a giant step in the right direction for men everywhere. I recognize that this garment. (hakama or andon bakama)although incredibly comfortable, durable and functional on every level, is not for every man, and so I am only going to produce them by special order, individually for the right minded guys out there, If there are 1,000 or 10. It's expensive because they will be made by hand in our Texas factory. We have guys here that have been sewing jeans for 36 years. We are using only the finest CONE denim from America and it takes a bunch of denim to make one of these (more than three yards). The pleats and folds are deep to allow for full combat movement. Whether your fighting in the ring or in your garage. So email me with your waist and inseam measurements, what wash you like, and I will let you know how much denim and how much yen/dollars you will need ($295+/-). Oh, and the saki part is just me looking for an excuse to delve further into the incredible world of sake and Japan. bob paluzi
